Oh geez, what a disappointment. Due to price point/reputation I would've expected them to be top-notch at accommodating dietary restrictions and it's sad to hear that the experience fell so short.
I hate to say it, having never dined there, but I think you have ample evidence that the management isn't all that invested in serving the best meal possible, but ARE interested in trading on a name a reputation built decades ago. Some old restaurants still have it...and some don't.
UGH. This is so depressing to read. I recently decided to cut meat and fish out of my diet almost entirely, and fine dining eating remains the biggest challenge. I have zero interest in spending all that money to get a second-rate version of what the omnivores (or those without food allergies,) do. And if anything, places like CP should be BETTER at accommodating specific needs than “lesser” places, so I’m angry for the both of you. I hope you complained to them directly too, you should get your money back.
I thought they'd be better at accommodating, too! I actually thought it seemed like the type of place that would be excited to get creative, if it weren't too busy a night, of course.
I didn't think about asking for a refund. But they'd probably say no because they probably wouldn't think they did anything wrong.
Why would you go to a special place like this when you know they don’t accommodate substitutions? And why should they? Why does everyone with issues think they have to be catered to? Dairy free, gluten free, sugar free…go to some weird place that feeds people like you. Stop complaining and writing about how people should accommodate your victim mentality.

That's what I thought going in, too.

I'm like a disappointed parent. They aren't living up to their potential!

Well aren't you in a snit!
