I'd do anything for some assam laksa right now. I spent a month in Malaysia and Penang's laksa was absolutely one of the best foods I've ever had in my life. I'm currently working my way through NYC's Malaysian restaurants.
My boyfriend and I LOVED Nyonya on Grand Street in Manhattan's Chinatown but I haven't been since before the pandemic. Some restaurants haven't yet resumed outdoor dining and we don't have indoor dining yet. Call me a snob, but I refuse to eat hot soup out of a plastic takeout container, it just doesn't feel right to me.

Any standouts in NYC?
